Its all the wave

So on this week's episode of TCPTUES149, Alma is doing a Retro challenge, which is to pick any previous challenge. And I thought Amy's supply challenge, TCPTUES121, to use all them shiney cut-up dies was perfect.

Among my impulse buys this past holiday was TCP's Whale of a friend. Now personally I think the "you're a whale of a friend" sentiment is sort of mean. Think about it, if you got a card that said that how would you feel? Do you really want to be a called a whale anything? N thinks I'm nuts, but honestly...

However the little whale is just way too adorable to pass up and I thought he'd make perfect baby boy cards. I paired him with my all time favorite boy paper (which was conveniently already on my desk) and die cut a bunch of waves for him to swim in. And because I'm a glitter fiend I couldnt resist edging the waves with some sparkley accents.

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Whale of a friend, Amuse senti
Paper: MB notecard, PTI enchanted evening & simply chartreuse, BG oliver
Ink: Memento black, Versafine black, copics
Accessories: TCP wave & snowflake die, PTI enchanted evening button, divine twine, stickles, ek stickos

A Ghostly TCP

It's TCP Tuesday on (a week late) Thursday. Last week's challenge, TCPTUES129, was a sketch challenge made by the original Cat Packer, Alma. When I saw the long panel I knew I just had to incorporate the little ghosts from Fright Night.

I stamped them on kraft (again), and colored their little ties w/ copics. They looked a bit flat so I went over them (twice) with my "outline" copic color (B60). Then I stamped the bats and covered them w/ glossy accents. I didnt have any orange saddle stitch ribbon (maybe on my next PTI order) so I opted for some yellow.

Before I sign off, I needs to get my Glee on. Hehe...I love that new kid, whatever his name is with the Bieber haircut. And him and Quinn are so cute. But my evil side cant wait to see some Puck-getting-jealous action either.

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Fright Night
Paper: PTI true black & kraft, DCWV la creme, Cosmo Cricket matilda
Ink: Memento black, Copics
Accessories: Spellbinders rectangles & circles, PTI orange zest buttons, PTI harvest gold ribbon, kaiser jewels, glossy accents, MFT open scallop dies

Patchwork Penguins

This week's episode of TCP Tuesday, TCPTUES123, was to use any beverage stamp. And what better stamp than to use the teacup penguins??? As soon as I saw these little guys in the preview week of TCP's latest release, I knew immediately I had to have them. They're just tooo cute w/ their little paper hats and makeshift boat. And with the snarky lil' sentiment "Ship Happens" how is it even an option not to get it???

The layout was something I thought up of at like 11:45pm the other night, whilst I was trying to go to sleep. Suffice to say I had to break out my notepad and jot it down. I punched out a bunch of squares from an old Memory Box paper pack. Its nice to know that I still occasionally use old supplies. I colored up the penguins and added some random sparkles in the form of spritz shimmers and spica glitter pens. And glossed up the water drops w/ some glossy accents because I cant make a card without it. I topped it of w/ the superly awesome sentiment and a little PTI button.

Close-up of the sparkley & glossy goodness...

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Ship Happens
Paper: PTI dark chocolate, Memory box sweetbay paper pack
Ink: Copics, Memento black, Versafine black, spica glitter pens
Accessories: square punch, glossy accents, shimmerz sparkle, smooch illuminate, PTI aqua mist button, krafters floss, PTI spring moss ribbon

Two Birds, One...Card

So this week's episode of TCP Tuesday, TCPTUES121, was a color challenge. Carole Burrage, who I'm sooo excited to see back w/ the Cat Pack, had this lovely color combo of denim, kraft and candy apple red. I searched high and low for a dp pack set that might do but just couldnt find any with both navy and red. Then I realized that one of my fav non-girly PTI colors, enchanted evening, would most likely fit the bill for denim.

I stamped out the Hearts & Flowers set, that I've shamelessly horded since last Thanksgiving. I also brought out my brand spankin' new, just delivered PTI ribbon and buttons. I absolutely love their saddle-stitch ribbon. Its soo yummy. And just like my chica, N, I have this compulsion to collect them all.

Mercy's Sketch, MTS86, fit perfectly for my image. Though as you can see I tweaked it just a bit (mostly b/c I had to put my brand new buttons in there somewhere).

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Hearts & Flowers
Ink: Memento black, bamboo leaves, pear tart, summer sky, danube blue, Copics
Paper: PTI kraft & enchanted evening, vellum, Cosmo Cricket garden variety
Accessories: polka dots embossing folder, spellbinder rectangles, PTI enchanted evening buttons, MS bakers twine, PTI pure poppy ribbon

Hick-Hop...

You learn something new everyday. Hick-hop is a cross between line dancing and hip hopping, it's quite interesting. But new dance styles aside, you gotta love the opening auditions of any competition shows. Its always entertaining. And I'm a fan of new and interesting.

So a few weeks ago, TCP Tuesday, TCPTUES109, had a sketch challenge that incorporated a circle. I've never done a circle card, so I trolled the blogs for a few tutorials and found one that gelled well. I brought out TCP's Salud and some Cosmo Cricket papers. I popped up the drink and added some glitter and diamond glaze. So yummy.

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Salud
Paper: PTI pure poppy & kraft, Cosmo Cricket garden variety
Ink: Memento black, Copics
Accessories: spellbinders rectangle & circles, diamond glaze, stickles, felt, PTI pure poppy button, krafters floss

Get Better TCP

Okay mark your calendars because tomorrow is going to be the best night in television. Barney Stinson meets Glee. Dude...can you handle it??? I'm very excited. Especially since the previews show them singing Aerosmith's Dream On, which is like one of the awesomest songs ever.

Anyway...the card...

So last (last) week's the TCP challenge, TCPTUES108, was a stamp challenge using You Sick Thing. And since its been sitting uninked and forlorn looking since I bought it months ago, I thought maybe it was a sign that I should actually use it. I paper pieced the little blanket and colored the rest in copics. I opted for twine over ribbon b/c I thought the papers called for a more rustic look. So I pulled out some twine from our scary drawer (you know the drawer, where things go and never come back...)

The Dets:
Stamps:
TCP You Sick Thing
Paper: MB vanilla bean, PTI dark chocolate, Basic Grey max & whiskers
Ink: Copics, Memento black
Accessories: kaiser pearls, spellbinders tags, circles & labels three, twine

A Journeyful Retirement

Yes I know. Journeyful is not a word, but I couldnt think of anything else. One of my coworkers is retiring tomorrow. I've known about it for at least a month but only in the very last hour have I started (and completed) a card for her. She's moving to Santa Fe so I thought the cowboy theme was fun & appropriate.

This week's TCP Tuesday Challenge, TCPTUES107, was a color challenge of Turquoise, Red & Ivory. I ended up pulling out a whole bunch of things I rarely use. A very big prima flower and DCWV citrus mat stack. I stamped out my little scene using TCP's Having a pow wow. And the sentiment's from Verve's Bountiful backgrounds. The sketch is from Jen's SFYTT this week. And does she have the most fantastic sketches?

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Having a pow wow, Verve Bountiful Backgrounds
Paper: MB vanilla bean notecard, PTI pure poppy, DCWV citrus dp
Ink: Memento black, Brilliance pearlescent chocolate, Copics, spica glitter pens
Accessories: spellbinders circles & rectangles, prima flower, diamond glaze, spots & dots embossing folder, kaiser pearls

Christmas Break

I'm taking a break from christmas.

So I was chatting with my pal Nina and she's going to be making a TCP Cowboy card for her hubs. I thought it would be hilarious if she used this sentiment, but then we figured her sisters would tease her way too much.

And so the frog prince card was born. Its based off of this week's fabulous TCP Tuesday sketch by Jen Del Muro. It may be a bit too busy, but I was going for humor rather than...whatever. And I got a laugh out of my hubs, so mission accomplished I guess.

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Puppy Love and Having a Pow Wow
Paper: MB sweetheart paper pack
Ink: Memento & Brilliance black, copics
Accessories: Kaiser jewels, spellbinder scalloped and standard circles

Long time no post....

Hiya...this is going to be a ridiculously short post. I made this card for my dad's bday. I broke out my TCP stamps a few weeks (maybe a month...) ago to play along w/ one of their TCP tuesday color challenges. I totally loved the color combo of turquoise, light blue and...black? White? I think it was black. But this was my try at a "boy" card and I got to use my brand new (early xmas present) of the scalloped circle spellbinders set.

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Argh Piratey
Paper: MB & SU
Ink: Copics, Versafine Black, Palette Noir
Accessories: Spellbinders scalloped & standard circles, ticket punch, kaiser pearls

TCP Tuesday...

Wowzas. Its been forever since I've posted (or made) a TCP card. And I had totally forgotten how much I love these stamps. So Amy was the Hostess with the Mostest a few weeks ago and issued a TCP Tuesday Buttons Challenge. I looked through all my sets b/c I wanted to somehow incorporate it into the image. And lo and behold, this image came to mind. The wheels of Sprinkles train fit my BG buttons purr-fectly.

I even broke out my super old Memory Box Christmas paper pack. I think the old school MB style of bold, bright colors and not too much of the distressed look matches Sprinkles to the T.

The Dets:
Stamps: TCP Candyland Christmas, Deck the Halls
Paper: MB holly berry, key lime and Christmas paper pack
Ink: Memento Black, Versafine, Copics, Spica glitter pens
Accessories: BG buttons, MS punch, ribbon

A Late TCP Tuesday

So this week's TCP Tuesday challenge was to use the colors chocolate, sky blue and kiwi. I think I may have veered a bit from the sky blue colors b/c the pictures here are a bit more light blue-ish than the grey blue I used. But I'm going to blame it on the fact that I live in Seattle, and here "sky blue" is indeed a grey blue.

Anyway, this piece was completely inspired by Ana's Spring Picture frame. Ana was super helpful in explaining how she did it and where she got the frame. I couldnt find one quite like it but this frame fit all the necessary qualifications (that it was a cheapo find procured at the dollar store). Anyway, this is my first try. I have a few more frames to play but this color challenge was an excellent opportunity for me to actually use a frame I bought a while ago. The hubs would be sooo proud (using things I buy rather than just letting them sit there...).

The Dets
Stamps: TCP Deck the Halls
Paper: Neenah White, SU! Bordering Blue, DCWV glitter paper
Ink: Versamagic Jumbo Java, Memento Black, Copics
Accessories: Green vine ribbon, snowflake punch, BG buttons, Kaiser Pearls, MB jewels, crafters thread

Back to Hogwarts

In this week's episode of TCP Tuesday, Amy at Ink About Me had a back to school themed challenge. And while I love crayons just as much as the next girl, I seem to have bad luck with them. They break. All the time. Maybe I press too hard. Either way its extremely frustrating. Oh, and I couldnt find my crayons anyway.

So it was back to the drawing board....which turned out to be a chalkboard. And I decided to combine my two favorite things, Harry Potter and stamping. Mr. Ohashi is actually an 8th grade Math Teacher, though he'd love to be a professor at Hogwart. And of course, he is not be as evil as Umbridge. He makes students write their lines on a chalkboard and not magically on the backs of their hands.

Card Recipe
Stamps: TCP's Arrgh! Piratey
Paper - BG Lemonade pack, SU!
Ink: Memento Black, white pen, copics
Others: Ribbon and BG buttons

TCP Tuesday on Friday

So it is yet another TCP Tuesday challenge. This week the hostess is Susan w/ a challenge to use any TCP cupcake or cake stamp. And the Smells like cake set was purrfect for this. The sketch is an old mojo monday sketchie that I just love. I think the paper was DCWV spring stack.
